Terms of Sale and Use
Every object here is one of one. There is exactly one, and when it sells it is gone. We cannot order another.
All sales are final. No refunds, no exchanges, no store credit.
So please read the description, look at every photograph, and ask us anything at all before you buy. We would far rather answer four questions than have you disappointed.
What one of a kind actually means
Everything we sell is vintage or antique. It was made by someone else, decades ago, and it has been used. That is the whole appeal, and it is also why these terms read the way they do. We cannot replace an object, because there is no second one. We cannot restock it. What you are looking at is the entire supply.
Condition, and how we describe it
Age shows. Expect patina, small losses, old repairs, crazing, oxidation, wear to finishes, and the ordinary marks of something having had a life before yours. We photograph honestly, including the flaws, and we note anything that materially affects use or value.
Colours vary between screens. Dimensions are given to the nearest reasonable measure. Unless we say otherwise in writing, assume electrical items have not been rewired and should be checked by an electrician before use, and that nothing sold here is certified food-safe, child-safe, or fit for any particular purpose.
All sales are final
We do not offer refunds, exchanges or credit for change of mind, for a piece not suiting the room, or for a measurement not taken beforehand. Please measure your doorway.
Except when we got it wrong
If an object arrives damaged in transit, or is materially different from how we described it, email treasurehunter@sanfranciscovintage.com within five days of the parcel arriving with photographs of the object and the packaging. We will make it right, by refund or otherwise. That is not a returns policy. It is us standing behind our own descriptions, which we intend to do for as long as we are open.
Price, availability and the race for one object
Because there is only ever one of anything, two people can want the same object at the same moment. The sale belongs to whoever completes checkout first. If something sells on the shop floor in Angels Camp while it is sitting in your bag online, we will cancel and refund that line in full. We are sorry in advance. It is the honest cost of a real shop with real shelves.
We try to keep prices and availability accurate, and we reserve the right to correct an obvious error. If a price is plainly wrong we will contact you before charging anything, and you can walk away.
Payment
Payment is taken by Square on a page hosted by Square. Your card details never reach this website. Sales tax is calculated and collected at checkout where it applies. Title and risk pass to you when the object is paid for and either collected or handed to the carrier.
Shipping and collection
Some objects ship nationwide. Some are marked local pickup only, usually because they are too large, too fragile, or too heavy to travel well. That is stated on the object's page before you buy.
Shipped items are packed carefully and insured where sensible. Once a parcel is with the carrier its timing is out of our hands. If it arrives broken, tell us within five days and keep the packaging, because the claim depends on it.
Items awaiting collection are held for thirty days. After that, and after we have tried to reach you, they may be returned to stock without a refund.
Using this website
The photographs, descriptions, maps and writing on this site belong to San Francisco Vintage. Please do not scrape them, republish them, or use them to train anything. Ask us instead, and the answer is often yes.
Do not attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to any part of this site.
Sold as is
To the fullest extent the law allows, everything is sold as is and where is, with all faults, and without warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under California law that cannot lawfully be limited, and nothing here excludes our liability for fraud or for our own misrepresentation.
Where liability cannot be excluded, ours is limited to the amount you actually paid for the object in question.
If something goes wrong between us
Write to us first. Almost everything is solved by an email and a photograph. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, and anything that cannot be resolved between us belongs in the state or federal courts serving Calaveras County, California.
Changes
We may update these terms. The version that applies to your purchase is the one published on the day you bought.
