Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect very little, we have never sold anything about you, and we would rather you trust us than convert.
Who this is
San Francisco Vintage is a vintage and antique store in historic downtown Angels Camp, California, and a community platform for California's vintage culture. Where this page says we, it means San Francisco Vintage. You can reach a person at treasurehunter@sanfranciscovintage.com.
What we collect
When you are only looking
Google Analytics sets cookies and records which pages you opened, roughly which region you are in, what sort of device you used, and which site sent you here. It tells us that forty people looked at a lamp. It does not tell us which forty.
When you join the list
Your email address, and your name if you offer it.
When you buy something
Checkout happens on Square, not here. Your card number never touches this website and we never see it. Square collects your payment details, name, shipping address and email, and passes us only what we need to get the object to you. What Square does with the rest is governed by Square's privacy policy.
When you write to us
Whatever you put in the message, and the address you sent it from.
What we do not collect
We do not collect card numbers, and we could not if we wanted to. We do not buy data about you from anyone. We run no advertising pixels and no remarketing tags. We do not follow you around other websites.
Cookies, and how to refuse them
Google Analytics sets cookies that last up to two years and exist to tell a returning visit from a new one. Refuse them in your browser settings and this site will work exactly as well as it does now. Nothing here is gated behind a cookie.
If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we switch analytics off for your visit before it loads. That is automatic. You do not have to ask us, and there is nothing to click.
Who else touches it
Only the companies that make the site run:
- Google Analytics, for the visit statistics described above. Advertising features and Google Signals are switched off, so this data is not used to build an advertising profile of you.
- Square, for payments and inventory.
- Supabase, for the small database that keeps the shop's sold marks honest.
- Netlify, for hosting, which keeps ordinary server logs.
None of them pay us for information about you, and none of them are given your information to use for their own advertising. If a court orders us to hand something over we will comply, and we will tell you unless we are forbidden to.
We do not sell or share your personal information
Not in the everyday sense of those words, and not in the particular sense California law gives them. We have never sold or shared personal information for money or for cross-context behavioural advertising, and we have no plans to start. There is nothing here for you to opt out of, which is the point.
If you live in California
You may ask us what we hold about you, ask for a copy, ask us to correct it, and ask us to delete it. Email treasurehunter@sanfranciscovintage.com and say which one you want. We will answer within forty-five days. We will not charge you, and we will not treat you any differently for having asked.
Children
This site is not intended for children under thirteen and we do not knowingly collect anything about them. If you believe we have, write to us and it will be deleted.
How long we keep things
- Email list: until you unsubscribe, which is one click in every message we send.
- Order records: as long as California tax and accounting law requires.
- Analytics: fourteen months, after which Google deletes it automatically.
Changes to this page
If we change it we change the date at the top. If the change is one you would want to know about, we will say so on the site rather than hoping you re-read this.
